Samsung demonstrates the Galaxy S9 with a more powerful camera, the AR function. SEOUL, 26 Feb – Samsung Electronics Co. Monday presented its new flagship smartphone Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, which boast improved cameras and virtual reality (AR).
During demonstrations on the eve of the world mobile world Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain, the South Korean tech giant introduced the new 5.8 – inch Galaxy S9 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S9 Plus, which enhance the capability of smartphones to a new level through the use of advanced technologies.

“Galaxy Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will bring optimized experiences to people in an era when they will share messages and emotions visually,” said Ko Dong-Jin, head of division IT & Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics.

Smartphones can shoot the best pictures in low light using the main camera Galaxy S9 that uses a variable aperture, which can automatically or manually switch between F1.5 and F2.4.

A lower F-number indicates that the camera can collect more light, which leads to increased performance in low light and blur the background out of focus bokeh, which many photographers prefer.

The ability to shoot at F2.4 with the same lens improves depth of field and can improve the image sharpness from edge to edge.

This compares with the smartphone LG Electronics V30, released last year, which has a fixed aperture F1.6.

Series Galaxy S9 is equipped with dual ultra pixel image sensor, which allows you to shoot 960 frames per second. Accordingly, the device may extend for 0.2-second period in real time in the six second video.
Galaxy S9 has a single camera, and Galaxy S9 Plus comes with two cameras, one of which has a zoom function. Basic cameras come with optical image stabilization (OIS), which can further improve performance and scaling in low light.

Resolution front camera with the lens F1.7, has 8 megapixels and the rear camera has 12 megapixels.

Samsung Electronics said that Galaxy S9 will also be equipped with a function AR. For example, the user can create emoticons with a selfie, and it can be shipped via major mobile messengers including KakaoTalk and Telegram.

“Samsung allows users to create a smiley face, which looks, sounds and acts just like them. Emoji AR uses a machine learning algorithm based on the data, which analyzes a 2D image of the user and displays more than 100 features of the face to create a 3D model for reflection and imitation of expressions, such as winks and nods for precise personalization, ” said the company.
The company said it plans to join forces with The Walt Disney Company to create a thematic AR-design Disney.

Galaxy S9 is also equipped with an improved platform Bixby with artificial intelligence (AI).

Users can select categories from the text to shopping or food and photograph objects, and Bixby will then provide relevant information.
For example, a user S9 can choose “text” and take pictures of signs or menus in foreign languages, and Bixby can translate it. The program is able to identify 54 of the language and can translate the text in 104 languages.

Using pictures of food, Bixby can find recipes and even calorie and nutrition information. Samsung said that such functions can also be connected to applications for health.

Samsung also highlighted the fact that the series Galaxy S9 improved edge-to-edge display, which was mounted on their predecessors. According to the company display, QHD + Super AMOLED with a ratio of 18.5: 9 will allow users to enjoy a bright display even in outdoor lighting conditions. He added that to improve the experience for users, the fingerprint sensor on the rear panel has been moved below the camera and not inserted on the side.

In contrast to the previous flagship Samsung phones, the last iteration will be equipped with stereo speakers running from the campaign AKG Harman International Industries. Supporting Dolby Atmos, smartphones will reproduce a more realistic sound.
Run Android 8.0 Oreo and the use of the skin of Samsung’s TouchWiz, Galaxy S9 weighs 163 grams, while the Galaxy S9 Plus weighs 189 grams. This slight increase in mass from Galaxy S8, which weighed 155 grams.

Galaxy S9 comes with a battery capacity of 3000 mAh, while the Galaxy S9 Plus battery – 3,500 mAh. Both models support wireless and fast charging. Galaxy S9 comes with 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM, and S9 Plus has 6 GB of memory.

The device has a base 64-Gigabyte data storage expandable up to 128 GB, and 256 GB. The internal memory can be further expanded up to 400 GB using micro SD card. All models S9 IP68 certified for resistance to dust and water.
It is expected that the model will come with its own chipset Exynos 9810 from Samsung or the Snapdragon 845 depending on the market. Earlier versions of Snapdragon was sold in the United States.

In addition, the Galaxy S9 supports intelligent scanning system, which allows the smartphone to identify the user’s face,
even in very bright outdoor conditions. Alternatively, it can recognize the user by scanning the iris of the eye, which is effective in darker lighting.

Samsung said that Samsung has improved DeX or Desktop Extension that allows people to use their smartphones as personal computers are connected to an external monitor.

“Thanks to the new docking system DeX Pad users can easily connect Galaxy S9 and S9 + to a larger monitor, keyboard and mouse to expand the capabilities of mobile devices with advanced editing documents or even full screen games. Users can convert Galaxy S9 and S9 + in DeX with the Touch Pad Pad, ” – said in a statement.
