Russian Ministry of Defense continues to transfer equipment to new military bases in northern Syria
The Russian Ministry of Defense continues to transfer equipment and materials to the north of Syria to the area of the city of El-Kamyshly, where an air base for Russian helicopters relocated from Khmeimim is organized. A video of a Russian military convoy following to a new military base appeared on the Web.
The video footage shows that a convoy of trucks stretching for a decent distance is guarded by armored vehicles of the Russian military police, helicopters Mi-8 and Mi-35 of the Russian Armed Forces, covering cars from different directions at low altitude, cover the convoy from the air. In the convoy, trucks carrying containers, military trucks with closed tents, a tanker and other equipment are visible.
The Ministry of Defense strengthened its military presence in northern Syria by deploying a group of Russian military helicopters relocated from the Khmeimim air base at the airport of the city of El-Kamyshly. The airspace of the new military point is protected by the Pantsir-S air defense missile defense complex, and Russian military policemen with their armored vehicles are also located there.
Earlier, special equipment necessary for servicing cars and territory arrived at the airport, where Russian helicopters are based, as well as a medical center and a special commandant’s office, which will take care of security.
