Russian artillery mount 2S7M Malka
This is the Russian artillery mount 2S7M “Malka”, which has long been in service, but has only recently been modernized
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on its official YouTube channel published a video test of the 2S7M Malka artillery installations, which took place in the Kuzbass. During the tests, the military attacked the positions of a conditional enemy located at a distance of 30 km. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
As stated in the description of the video, “during the shooting, a new method of fire destruction was used: strikes were targeted from open firing positions along a hinged path. Correction of fire was carried out using UAV “Orlan-10″. ” The publication notes that the 203-mm self-propelled artillery system “Malka” was recently modernized. It replaced the gearboxes, distribution mechanisms and power supply units. In addition, Russian specialists updated the equipment: equipment for internal communications, data reception and processing, as well as a radio station and a complex of anti-nuclear protection systems and monitoring devices.
2S7M “Malka” is a modernized version of the older self-propelled 2S7 “Peony”, which was created in the 1980s and is still in service with the Russian army. The combat vehicle is designed to defeat the enemy in the depths of defense behind the front line. Updating the installation primarily affected the refinement of the chassis. “Malka” is considered one of the most powerful guns in the world. She can shoot high-explosive shells and active-reactive ammunition. Its main advantage is the ability to use special ammunition with a nuclear charge.
